In November of 2012, we traveled to Belize and helped Chunox, a small village, to build the Seventh Day Adventist school. We gave out 120 school kits, bought 5 computers and gave them electricity!! We also donated 50 medical kits to the Chunox medical clinic. While we were there we also built a Dome House for Rosa’s family which includes a widow, her daughter and 2 young girls.
Our current focus is to bring water and commerce directly to this town. The goal is to bring clean water by building a well with the Village Drill. The local villagers will be trained on how to use the Village Drill so they can create a business and create sustainable income opportunities for their families. The first well will be built at the school and it’s required that each family will pay something for their daily bucket of water. The funds will help to keep the school in good shape while buying supplies and helping local children with their education.
Providing clean water will affect over 1,000 people directly. There will be no need to travel for water sources miles away. The water will be monetized to help fund the school that will keep teachers in the area and educate the children. In addition, the funds will pay for books, supplies, good teachers and keeping the school in good shape. There will be an additional impact to the food source. With clean water and a little money coming into the school, the ability to grow the villages own crops and animal husbandry will become a reality. The village will be more independent and self-sustainable and less dependent on their Amish neighbors, 30 miles away.
